DR PHIL GANDERTON

Male

MB BCh(Wales) MRCGP. Qualified in 1994. (GP Partner)

Lead GP, Dr Ganderton worked in several surgical specialties before training to be a GP. He joined the practice in September 2004. He carries out minor surgery procedures one Tuesday afternoon per month.

DR STEVE DAVIES

MBBS (Lond), MRCGP (GP Partner)

Dr Davies completed his GP training with us back in 2010. He has worked as a GP in the East of Cardiff for many years and also serves terms of office as a representative on both the Bro Taf LMC and GPC Wales. Dr Davies joined the practice as a GP Partner in September 2017.

DR SHERIF KHALIFA

Dr Khalifa previously completed his GP training with us and has now joined us as a GP Partner. His has a special interest in paediatrics and paediatric allergies. Dr Khalifa is a fluent Welsh speaker and is happy to conduct consultations in Welsh.

DR MEGAN BLYTH

Dr Blyth undertook her GP training with us a few years ago and has now returned to the practice as a GP Partner. She has an interest in medical education and spends some of her working week assisting with the teaching of post graduate medical students at Cardiff University.

DR CARYL WOOD

MB BCh Wales, MRCGP (GP Partner)

Dr Wood completed her GP training with us in 2018 and then returned as a GP Partner in 2022. She is a fluent Welsh speaker and is happy to conduct consultations in Welsh on request.

GP Trainees

We are recognised as a Postgraduate Training practice, affiliated to the University of Cardiff School of Medicine, to provide postgraduate education to GP Registrars. Registrars are medically qualified and many have a great deal of hospital experience. Their training in the practice is centered on the role of the General Practitioner. They are available for consultations in exactly the same was as all other doctors in the practice. Our current GP Registrars are shown below:-

Dr Elvidge will be undertaking their GP training with us until January 2024.

DR FELIX MCGRATH

Dr McGrath will be undertaking their GP training with us until November 2024.

DR MATT THOMAS

Dr Thomas will be undertaking their GP training with us until August 2024.

DR ASIM BILAL

Dr Bilal will be undertaking their GP training with us from February 2024 to February 2025.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

LUCY GORDON

Female

Lucy is an experience nurse and has previously worked for many years in hospitals and other general practices. She undertakes childhood immunisations in Baby Clinic, and provides travel advice and vaccinations, pill checks, wound care, blood tests and smoking cessation advice.

ANNABELLE ROGERS

Female

Annabelle is an experience nurse and has previously worked as a DIstrict Nurse prior to working in General Practice. She undertakes childhood immunisations in Baby Clinic, and provides travel advice and vaccinations, pill checks, wound care, blood tests and smoking cessation advice.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure and ECGs. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. Lisa, one of our experienced receptionists, undertakes the role of healthcare assistant on a part time basis.

Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

CHRIS WILLIAMS

Practice Manager

Mr. Williams joined the practice in 2008. He heads up the business side of the practice, and is resposible for providing business advice, managing the whole practice team and ensuring the efficient deployment of practice resources. He has an Accountancy background, and has also worked in the GP Out of Hours service.

JANE GRIFFITHS

Assistant Practice Manager

Mrs Griffiths is responsible for supporting the Practice Manager and the smooth running of the Practice's operational functions, including staffing and deputises for the Practice Manager in his absence.

Administration

ANGELA M

Angela is responsible for repeat prescriptions as well as having other administrative responsibilities

PAULINE H

Pauline deals with all incoming mail and scans the details electronically into patient records. She also carries out general administration work on behalf of the practice.

STACEY W

Stacey undertakes administrative work within the practice, including scanning incoming documents.

Our Reception Staff deal with enquiries from patients regarding appointments etc.

Community Midwives

Mikaela and the team of Community Midwives run Ante Natal Clinic at the surgery every Wednesday morning and undertake maternity bookings on Thursday mornings.. Contact Reception if you wish to make an appointment to see one of the Midwives.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. Juli and Jocelyn see children up to the age of 5 years at home and in the Surgery. If you wish to speak to them directly, ring (029) 2183 2216 or (029) 2183 2061.
